100% growth in one year

in the supercomputers market share for AMD opterons. It was 11% one year ago, now it is 22%. Not bad. Will the trend continue?, yes I think it will, perhaps at the same rate!

I took the information from here.

Why is this happening?

Because the interprocessor communication links that Opterons have, based on ccHTT (Cache Coherent HyperTransport Technology), scale nearly linearly, allow multiple processors to have their own memory that is shared to any other processor by direct links.

Intel's bus technology is hopeless.

But these things have a dinamics of their own, with the presumed superior Woodcrests, and the upcoming clovertowns, this is the chance for the Intel lovers to sneak some systems into the top supercomputers list.
